20 years of the PFS – 2026 in Bodrum
From 17 to 22 September, the 20th annual meeting of the Property and Freedom Society (PFS) took place in Bodrum. Founded by Hans-Hermann Hoppe and Gülçin Imre Hoppe, the society sees itself as an international meeting place for Austro-libertarian ideas and deliberately cultivates the character of a small, personal intellectual salon. Attendance is by invitation, which no doubt helps to give the talks, discussions and personal conversations an open atmosphere of mutual trust.
For many years now, the PFS has been an oasis for mind and soul for me, among like-minded radical thinkers on freedom from all over the world. Despite some demanding talks, the event has a distinctly family feel. Many participants have been coming for years, people know each other and carry on their discussions over dinner, by the pool or late at night at the bar.
In 2026, the programme was once again wide-ranging: from Austrian economics, money and Bitcoin to legal philosophy and, of course, Murray Rothbard's 100th birthday, for which the PFS also put together a book of its own. The talks and the book are or will be available on the PFS website and are announced in the newsletter as they become available.
On Sunday, after the first two official talks, I was able to give an update on OboxPlanet as a bonus. As the official version for the website will take a little while yet, I have used the presentation I prepared for it.
For me, the PFS remains one of the rare places where, for a few days, you can experience how inspiring it is when people think about freedom without blinkers.
