The welfare state harms the poor more than it helps them

Hardly anyone dares to question the dogma that the welfare state helps the poor and is essential for social balance. In his lecture at the PanaCeHa health congress in Glattfelden, LI director Olivier Kessler showed that this article of faith only holds up at first glance and is anything but sound on closer inspection.
The welfare state creates incentives that slowly but surely sap productivity and thus increase poverty. It gives rise to ever new demands, unrealistic promises and the over-indebtedness of entire countries, which will ultimately lead to state bankruptcy and the collapse of social benefits. Is the welfare state therefore really in the interest of those in need?
The irony of the story, in conclusion:
the welfare state does not reduce poverty.
