Welcome Dieter Galli – as a Driver!
We are delighted to welcome Dieter Galli to the ranks of the Drivers. Drivers shape the party and contribute actively to its success. They represent the party's values and are committed to classical liberal thinking.
Dieter has been accompanying the Libertarian Party for some time and has twice stood as a candidate on our National Council list:
- Slogan: «less state, lower taxes, more freedom!»
- For me, freedom means: being able to shape my life free from state coercion!
- I campaign for: the abolition of income tax, the elimination of subsidies, limits on laws and regulations, and the privatisation of all state-owned enterprises
- My political concerns are: a minimal state without income tax
Until the financial crisis of 2008 I held conservative, middle-class views. I had heard that fiat money is fundamentally a problem, but I had never looked into it more closely. During the financial crisis two things happened: I read «Atlas Shrugged» by Ayn Rand at the time, and the parallels between the book and what happened on the markets in 2008 and 2009 were frightening. That made me understand the problems of socialism and of interventions by the state and by interest groups. A colleague recommended that I read Roland Baader. I began with the book «Geldsozialismus». This slim volume describes all the essential problems of fiat money: inflation, redistribution from the poor to the rich, and the creeping degeneration of society.
My search then led me to the Scholarium in Vienna (today in Zug), where I learned a great deal about the Austrian School of economics. In the 2019 National Council elections I realised that I had the highest level of agreement with the Libertarian Party (then still called UP).
